At OLD, we are focused on the individual learning needs of all students. AS an inclusive school we support students through a variety of support programmes and adjustments:
A: Diverse Learning:
Students who require adjustments to support learning are catered for within the classroom setting by our teachers who differentiate learning experiences depending on students’ needs. In addition, importantly too, parents, teachers and students are supported by our specialist “Diverse Learning Coordinator” who offers additional expertise and guidance.
B: English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D)
Students who speak a language other than English at home are supported by our EAL/D Coordinator who offers specialist expertise. We are proud of the fact that, here at Our Lady of Dolours, we value and celebrate the wonderful cultural diversity of our unique school community. Each student who comes from a non-English speaking background receives beneficial support from our EAL/D specialist teacher to develop and meet their literacy and language needs.
C: Enrichment – (Gifted and Talented Programmes)
Students who display a high aptitude for learning and thinking are primarily catered for within the differentiated programmes in the classroom setting. Importantly too, OLD offers a variety of learning enrichment programmes to specifically support these students.
