Our Library is open for lessons and borrowing on Wednesdays and Thursdays (see Library schedule as advertised for your class). We are also open at lunchtime everyday according to the Library Roster (on the Library door). This is for reading quietly, drawing and to create and a quiet place to interact with friends.
The Library has a huge collection of books for all young readers and students are most welcome to browse the shelves. Students can settle in to read quietly and escape to a special place that only books can take them.
Our Library has an extensive collection of current and classic literature. The collection is divided into the following sections:
- Non-Fiction
- Fiction
- Picture Books/Junior Fiction
- Teacher Reference (stored in multiple locations across the school)
Each year, our library promotes the PREMMIER’S READING CHALLENGE and the annual BOOK WEEK PARADE. During Book Week, activities are organised to highlight particular authors and illustrators. you can also place an order for books through Scholastic Book Club Online. Students receive catalogues at school with instructions. All orders are placed online via the BOOK CLUB LOOP for parents.
Volunteers are always welcome to assist in book covering and returning books on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. If you would like to be part of this parent group you can register at the school office.
Each day remember the famous words by Dr Seuss “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more things that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
